Sourcing Manager
Currently seeking a Sourcing Manager for a leading FMCG/Supply Chain Management company based in Umhlanga. The purpose of the role is:
- To develop and institutionalise a 1-3 year sourcing and vendor management strategy for both operational and capex procurement.
- To set up sourcing agreements for all operational and capex stock.
- To ensure market competitiveness between suppliers.
- To manage contract adherence and tender processes.
- To drive sustainability, SHREQ and BEEE objectives across the supplier base.
- To manage supplier reliability to the point of IFS warehouse or site delivery.
- To drive increased contract coverage and spend across the Group and across the categories.
- To manage the stock availability at the various operational sites through planning, call off and management of the stock from point of source to point of consumption.
- To increase supply chain reliability and cost effectiveness through better forecasting, planning, order execution and stock management.
- To manage the procurement of stock against agreed strategic and operational targets and approve all orders.
- To manage the operational switch on of new sites, including setting up a regular supply network.
- To ensure compliance with all QHSE and corporate governance SOPs from the team.
- To lead the supply planning team and hold them accountable for stock availability on site, at the right cost and quality.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Sourcing and Vendor Management Strategy Development
- Work with Group Procurement Manager to develop and institutionalise a 1-3 year sourcing and vendor management strategy and translate this into action items.
- Work closely with national Group cross-functional management teams (production and camp managers as well as head Operations managers) to ensure the delivery of an integrated supply chain benefit.
- Analyse industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit the Group.
- Develop a negotiation and contracting strategy that delivers against business objectives and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers.
- Identify strategic suppliers and develop the relationship from transactional to partnership status.
- Identify critical supply lines and develop contingency sourcing options, partners for solutions, products and services.
- Work with Group Procurement Manager to identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with Business managers to prioritize and drive implementation.
- Work with HR to define and then achieve the B-BBEE targets related to procurement and enterprise development for the SA companies.
- Sourcing Agreements Setup
- Ensure 95%+ of operational sourcing is achieved through suppliers with sourcing agreements.
- Monitor and correct non-adherence to sourcing agreements.
- Develop preferred supplier status for capex suppliers as per a standard BOQ for site establishment.
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, services or substitute materials.
- Measure and manage sustainability practices within area of responsibility and ensure contracts and service level agreements support environmental and green practices.
- Conduct HSEQ compliance assessments on supplier premises.
- Influence suppliers’ production processes, technology decisions and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organisations.
- Drive sustainability, risk, and compliance and BBBEE objectives.
- Financial Management - support office.
- Drive the management of external supplier relationships and contracts in collaboration with the regional and national management teams to ensure agreed service levels are met.
- Ensure price tracking and trending are undertaken as part of market research on a regular basis.
- Team Management
- Lead and develop staff within the context of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Skills Development Act.
- Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback, including informal and formal staff appraisals.
- Coach and support staff where necessary to achieve objectives.
- Manage staff administration issues, including leave, time management and interaction with the wider business.
- Manage and deliver on succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders and specialists and ensure optimal turnover and retention levels are maintained.
- Champion staff training and development through the utilisation of available training opportunities or contributing to the development of new training solutions in collaboration with national training specialists.
- Teamwork and Self-Management
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning and prioritising, and self-development.
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.

Degree in Supply Chain
5 - 10 years sourcing management experience
Ability to travel into Africa
