National Sales Manager
Currently seeking a National Sales Manager for an award-winning FMCG company based in Cape Town. The purpose of this position is to manage and expand the relationship with the allocated National Key Account customer in order to achieve sales objectives and targets, whilst maximizing sales opportunities within the allocated categories.
Duties & Responsibilities
- OBJECTIVE 1: Develop and manage the implementation of the Key Account Customer strategy nationally
- Develop allocated customers and Key Account strategies for promotions, pricing, commercial terms in line with the Sales & Marketing Strategy
- Monitor pricing accuracy and implement price increases within set time parameters to prevent claims
- Review and manage claims and credit uplifts
- Identify best promotional mix to drive the best ROI
- Evaluate promotional activity and measure ROI in conjunction with activations
- Confirm that in-market execution is in-line with Sales & Marketing Strategy
- Implement and oversee Trading Terms, ranging, new listings and pricing
- Provide monthly and quarterly business updates according to formats and agreed deadlines
- Track infill rates per customer and ensure targets are met
- Track delivery schedules, manage inventory per returns and minimize waste
- Supply weekly order status updates to customers including OOS reports
- Create a briefing document for the implementation of the strategy for the sales agents
- Drive sales efficiency by regular interactions with the factory and Ops team. Ensure that the factory is customer focused and aligned with trends in the market. This will ensure the achievement of profitability and growth objectives
- Reduce out of stocks by increasing forecasting efficiency — balancing supply and demand.
- OBJECTIVE 2: Review customer activity in line with strategy
- Provide direction on promotional plans, pricing and product launches in line with Sales & Marketing Strategy.
- Provide short and medium term customer forecasts
- Review account performance and implement corrective strategies
- Use bi-annual range audits to manage product listing/ de-listing
- Conduct top to top business reviews bi-annually
- Manage and grow customer profitability including supporting regular store visits
- Manage customer portals and access to data
- Manage customer supply chain issues
- OBJECTIVE 3: Manage allocated budget effectively
- Forecast annual sales budgets and capex expenses in line with guidelines
- Manage costs against approved budget
- Put in place cost control mechanisms and report any major deviations on cost
- Report customer profitability and P&L
