Principal Data Network and Infrastructure Planner

We are seeking an experienced Data Network and Infrastructure Planner to join our team, focusing on planning, designing, and provisioning networks in a telecommunications environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data networks, including experience with industry-leading vendors, network security, and infrastructure planning.
Key Responsibilities :
- Plan, design, and provision data network infrastructure, focusing on Metro Area Networks, Local Area Networks, Data Centres, Wi-Fi, and Network Peering.
- Lead circuit design and network security initiatives.
- Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure network scalability and efficiency.
- Utilize expertise in tools like GE Smallworld (preferred).
- Provide strategic oversight in network security planning and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
Qualifications :
- Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF7) in a relevant field or equivalent vendor industry certifications (Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel, Nokia, Juniper, etc.).
- 8+ years of experience, with at least 6 years in data network and infrastructure planning in a telecommunications environment.
Other Requirements :
- 3 years of post-qualification experience in network planning and infrastructure.
- Experience with network vendors (Cisco, Alcatel, Extreme, etc.).
- Code 8 driver’s license and own transport essential.
- Preferred Skills :
- Experience with network security, GE Smallworld, and relevant telecommunications technologies.
