About the Position:
The
Safari Manager will be responsible for managing the Safari department. The role includes overseeing daily operations, scheduling, and ensuring high-quality guest experiences. The ideal candidate will thrive in a demanding environment, where long hours and extreme conditions are sometimes required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team in the Safari department.
- Oversee daily scheduling of field guides across three divisions.
- Manage and control the Safari department's budget.
- Fleet management and drive scheduling, including equipment checks, controls, and maintenance.
- Provide training and guidance to the Safari team to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate and enhance the overall lodge experience.
Minimum Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years guiding experience at a luxury lodge in a Big 5 reserve.
- FGASA Level 2 certification is essential.
- FGASA Level 3 with Full or Backup Trails Guide qualification preferred.
- DEATs registration.
- Advanced rifle handling certification.
- Valid drivers license with PrDP .
- Valid First Aid Level 1 certification (minimum).
- Matric certificate.
- Criminal clearance certificate required.
- Solid references that can attest to your professionalism and experience.
- Honest, with strong integrity and ethical standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff.
- Service-oriented, energetic, and highly focused.
- Valid RSA ID.
- Presentable appearance that reflects the lodge's luxury brand.
