Key Role:
The role requires knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Contract Management having gained experience working within contractor’s or employer’s organization, to include but not limited to an understanding of contracts, risk, health & safety, progress planning, partnering and cost reporting methodologies
The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For:
- The primary responsibility of the role is to manage the administration of a works packages in connection with all commercial, contractual and performance matters relating to a specific element(s) of the Kusile Power Station, South Africa utilizing the FIDIC and NEC form of Contracts.
- Fulfil the role of the Package Engineers Assistant as defined within a FIDIC Contract
- Monitor as defined within the Contract the Contractors Health and Safety performance against the Contracts specific requirements
- Monitor as defined within the Contract Contractors Quality performance against the Contracts specific requirements
- Monitor as defined within the Contract Contractors progress against the Projects defined targets
- Ensure as defined within the Contract commercial processes and procedures are adhered to
- Manage the set commercial package objectives and cascade to the team
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and manage them through to conclusion to minimise Employer’s liability
- Develop and encourage direct staff to take responsibility for sections of the Project
- Develop a team spirit with team members
- Fulfil any other task that can be reasonably within the contemplation of the role
- Become aware and where appropriates apply SHEQ/Zero Harm Health and Safety objectives and Procedures to the role.
- Become aware of the Environmental Objectives and Procedures associated with the Project Site.

Key Competencies:
- Minimum of 10 years Contract Management experience; with at least 5 years at a leadership level in a contracting company or as an employer’s Resident Engineer
- Experience in a managing major contracts
- Good understanding of the FIDIC contract conditions
- Technical knowledgeable in commercial, contract and risk management
- Exposure to large engineering and construction projects preferably in the Power or major Infrastructure Sector
- Outstanding communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop proactive and professional working relationships within an integrated team
- Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to drive change through the organization and proven track record of leading multi-discipline commercial teams
Qualifications
- Degree in a construction related discipline
- Membership of a Professional Institution
