An exciting opportunity has become available for a Logistics Superintendent CRP and Final Product in the Logistics Department at Samancor Ferrometals situated in Witbank, Mpumalanga.
Job Description
To manage the production / metallurgical and maintenance processes and to continuously improve current practices, methods, equipment and processes in a safe manner, in order to exceed current production targets and reduce costs to the company. Need to be the continuous improvement driver of all Cr recovery process. To manage the final products and on-site material handling Logistics processes and break-floors by focusing on safety and to ensure maximum return on capital employed
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc. Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)

Manage the Section:
Ensure an enabling climate/culture Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover Labour complement in line with budget Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the SectionEnsure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan Manage performance against set targets and competencies Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly) Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.) Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels Conduct recruitment interviews

Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operations Provide customer service and ensure customer satisfaction and competitive practice throughout the Samancor Chrome environment Achieve agreed KPI targets Maintain service level agreements between on-site service providers, Transport Service Providers, SCr Marketing and furnaces Conduct customer satisfaction surveys Establish and maintain effective communication channels and networks between relevant parties Investigate, resolve and follow up final product customer queries and complaints Resolve customer queries/complaints
Suppliers Relations:
Manage relationships with key Suppliers Liaise with TFR/Transport service providers and deal with all related logistical issues Monitor Supplier satisfaction

Achieve process quality Ensure customer satisfaction

Production Management:
Accurately forecast and control production and scheduling of production and shutdown work according to the defined production requirements
Metallurgical Performance:
Ensure the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the metallurgical processes Control Metallurgical performance Achieve Metallurgy Budget Achieve Metallurgy Quality
Metallurgical Accounting:
Accurately forecast & control Metallurgical performance Ensure accurate Metallurgical reconciliations
Maintenance Support:
Define equipment criticality using a risk matrix Define and manage the overall maintenance strategy for the plant
Solve problems and implement solutions:
Ensure that outcomes of RCA’s are evaluated for their business case, implemented as applicable and are sustainable Select equipment vendors as per maintenance standards
Work execution:
Perform planned job observations Document and review the plant maintenance strategy on an annual basis to ensure that it is aligned with the business plan Ensure strict adherence to maintenance work management principles (percent planned work, adherence to schedule, number of breakdowns, number of proactive requests) to obtain maximum plant availability at minimum maintenance cost per unit produced Manage the Engineering Assets to ensure that they produce at their designed capacity and are periodically refurbished to their original condition to ensure optimal life Ensure strict adherence to the relevant engineering standards and specifications Periodically audit the asset and documentation to obtain maximum standardisation of spares and new plant installations on the site
Work Analysis:
Interrogate non-published reports standard Investigate and communicate commercial exceptions Follow up warranty claims on component failures on high criticality equipment Required to work on the last day of the month (Weekends and Public Holidays)
Process Management:
Optimise plant throughput, maintain low export stocks and low Pre-Crush-WIP Optimise loading/dispatch process to reduce vehicle turnaround times, rail/road Quality management to ensure in-specification cargo is sent off site Stock reporting and reconciliation
System Management:
Comply to and improve SHE system Own, maintain and improve the MES system
Research and Development:
Research alternative processes to recover Cr, final product handling, on-site material handling, equipment utilization and reduce operational expenses etc Improve quality management and control tools/systems
Documentation:
Own, maintain and improve the Business Unit documentation system with adequate record keeping
Supplier Management:
Review existing arrangements to drive down total cost for both Samancor Chrome and our Suppliers Identify, develop and implement opportunities to leverage the group position in the market place
Contract Management:
Source, maintain and manage onsite service providers Negotiate contractual terms and conditions Implement and manage Service Level Agreements
Tenders:
Determine customer requirements and research market, commodities and suitable suppliers Compile tender documents and contracts Prepare, coordinate and adjudicate tenders Negotiate final terms and conditions in conjunction with internal customers Conduct Supplier site audits Research market

Job Requirements
Degree or National Diploma in relevant field BSC Eng. Degree/ B Tech/NHD in Metallurgy / Mechanical Eng 6 years relevant experience, preferably 2 years managerial experience
