Job Description
A leading international firm of Consulting Engineers is growing their renewable energy service offering and is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their offices in Cape Town. The successful person will play a lead role in the development and marketing of the Renewable Energy Sector within the division as a whole.
Minimum Requirements:
•BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage)
•Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration (PMP/PrCPM registration is an advantage)
•Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience, with specific experience on renewable energy projects in South Africa
•Previous track record in successfully generating new business within the renewable energy sector.
•Sound electrical engineering knowledge in MV and HV (11kV up to 400kV)
•Knowledge of the full spectrum of Indoor and Outdoor Substation Designs
•Conversant with PvSyst, Digsilent electrical power systems modelling and analysis software
Your main responsibilities will include:
•Win and deliver projects within the renewable sector with an emphasis on transactional advisory services; independent design reviews; grid integration studies of renewable power plants; grid code compliance studies; and specification of equipment required for grid integration of renewable power plants
•Market the sector to clients and bring in sales, specifically in the Renewables Sector
•Project Management
•Drive Digital Way of Working (DWoW) in line with international practices
•Ensure that work is done in accordance with acceptable standards of both RHDHV and that of clients
•Maintain project records in accordance with internal quality system
•Preparation and management of specifications, schedules, estimates, progress reports, meeting agendas and minutes, and procurement issues
•Electrical engineering and design during all project phases according to client, national and international standards
•Assessing of client/ project electrical engineering requirements
•Prepare concept design and the ability to objectively evaluate both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives/requirements
•Cost estimation of electrical engineering scope of work, including equipment and construction costs
•Proposals, Expression of interests and tendering
•Management of multi-disciplinary projects from inception to close out
•Budgetary and financial responsibility for projects
•Collaborate with local and international teams
•Mentorship of junior team members
