The purpose of the Risk & Safety Officer is to ensure the compliance, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and evaluation of the company.
Requirements: - NEBOSH / SAMTRAC / Diploma or Degree in the OHS field
- Registered with the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
- Registered with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions
- Emergency medical experience
- Being registered with the Health Professional Council of SA would be advantageous
- Advanced first aid experience
- Advanced firefighting knowledge
- OHS Act qualification
- 5 years relevant working experience within an FMCG environment/factory setup is recommended
- Computer literacy
- Maintaining the Health and Safety Management Systems for all sites
- Facilitating and performing Health, Safety, and Environmental risk identification assessment, evaluation, and development of safe work procedures with department managers
- Facilitating and reviewing investigations, recording all accidents / incidents / near misses, ensuring accurate reporting, and ensuring that mitigating measures are implemented
- Ensuring that Safety Committee meetings are held regularly as per OHSA requirements for all sites
- Participating in safety forums created by the company, for example safety meetings and safety talks
- Following up on any activities assigned through safety meetings / committees / representatives / management
- Reporting on all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Attending safety education and refresher programmes
- Complying with safety policies and procedures at the company
- Distributing safety information as and when required
- Wearing protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
