Sales Development Representative
Salary:£25k plus monthly comms scheme
Locations: Manchester Based
Career progression: Structured development pathway into a Commercial Finance Broker role
The Opportunity
Funding Links is a fast-growing commercial finance brokerage based in Manchester, helping UK businesses access a broad range of funding solutions.
As we continue to expand, we're launching our Broker Academy, designed to develop ambitious salespeople into successful Commercial Finance Brokers.
We're looking for a highly motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join the programme. This is an opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in commercial finance, with hands-on training, exposure to experienced brokers and a clear pathway into a full broking role.
The initial focus will be on outbound business development. We currently have approximately 4,000 leads in our CRM, alongside access to fresh B2B prospecting data.
The successful candidate will proactively engage businesses, identify funding requirements, qualify opportunities and generate business for our New Business Brokers.
Alongside this, they'll develop an understanding of commercial finance products, lender criteria, deal structuring and the end-to-end funding process.
This is a sales-focused development role, not an administrative position.
Key Responsibilities
-
Proactively contact businesses through our existing CRM database and new B2B prospecting data.
-
Re-engage previous funding enquiries and identify current or upcoming finance requirements.
-
Conduct high-volume outbound calling to generate new business opportunities.
-
Qualify prospects based on funding requirements, turnover, funding purpose and timescales.
-
Book qualified appointments and introduce opportunities to our New Business Brokers.
-
Maintain accurate CRM records, including call outcomes, qualification information and follow-up activity.
-
Help segment and organise CRM data to improve the effectiveness of future outreach.
-
Work closely with experienced brokers to understand funding products, lender requirements and deal progression.
-
Develop the commercial knowledge and sales skills required to progress into a full Commercial Finance Broker role.
-
Work towards agreed activity, qualification and revenue contribution targets.
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone with ambition, resilience and a genuine interest in building a successful sales career.
-
Previous experience in outbound sales, telesales, SDR or business development would be advantageous.
-
Confident and comfortable speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers.
-
Highly motivated, competitive and driven by performance and earning potential.
-
Resilient, proactive and comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls.
-
Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
-
Organised and disciplined in managing CRM records and follow-up activity.
-
Coachable, eager to learn and receptive to feedback.
-
Interested in developing a long-term career in commercial finance.
Previous commercial finance experience is not essential. We're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, work ethic and commercial aptitude who we can develop internally.
Broker Academy and Career Progression
Our intention is to develop successful SDRs into fully fledged Commercial Finance Brokers.
The successful candidate will receive:
-
Hands-on coaching and mentoring from experienced commercial finance professionals.
-
Training across our core funding products, including invoice finance, business loans, asset finance and trade finance.
-
Exposure to the full funding lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to lender approval and completion.
-
Opportunities to shadow brokers and participate in client conversations.
-
Increasing responsibility as product knowledge, sales performance and confidence develop.
-
A clear opportunity to progress into a Commercial Finance Broker position, subject to performance and demonstrated capability
What Success Looks Like
Initially, success will be measured by:
-
Consistent outbound activity and meaningful conversations with business owners.
-
Generating qualified funding opportunities from both existing CRM leads and new prospect data.
-
Maintaining excellent CRM hygiene and follow-up discipline.
-
Producing opportunities that progress through the sales pipeline and ultimately generate funded revenue.
-
Demonstrating increasing product knowledge, commercial awareness and sales capability
