This is a senior leadership opportunity combining technical design, project delivery, client management and team development. You will help shape the team's strategic direction and lead data centre and mission critical projects across the UK and Europe.
The role would suit an established Director or an experienced Associate Director ready to take on broader responsibility.
What you'll do
You will lead projects from initial feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction support, testing and commissioning, ensuring successful delivery against client requirements, programme and budget.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the design and delivery of data centre and mission critical infrastructure, with particular responsibility for power systems.
Overseeing feasibility studies, technical due diligence, design development and technical peer reviews.
Providing technical direction on HV and LV distribution systems, resilience and electrical distribution topologies.
Overseeing power system modelling and studies, including short circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonics, cable sizing and load flow.
Reviewing specifications, calculations, drawings and equipment proposals.
Supporting factory and site acceptance testing, site inspections and commissioning activities.
Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working closely with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers and other stakeholders.
Managing technical risk, scope of services, fee proposals and project profitability.
Mentoring and developing an established team of specialist engineers.
Supporting recruitment, business development and work-winning activity.
Contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the Data Centre business.
What we're looking for
You must have clear experience in data centre and mission critical design across both the UK and Europe, alongside a track record of cradle-to-grave project delivery.
You will also bring:
An electrical engineering degree or equivalent and Chartered Engineer status.
Strong technical expertise in data centre power infrastructure, including HV/LV systems and distribution arrangements.
Experience leading technical design teams and coordinating all stages of project delivery.
Proficiency in ETAP and relevant design tools, including Trimble and AutoCAD.
An understanding of installation practices, buildability, testing and commissioning.
Strong client-facing skills, including presenting technical solutions and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
Commercial and contractual awareness, with experience managing fees, scope and delivery risk.
A track record of mentoring engineers and developing team capability.
An understanding of sustainable design and opportunities to reduce carbon across project delivery.
You should be comfortable explaining complex technical issues clearly, making sound decisions and building confidence with colleagues and clients.
Your impact
During your first 12-24 months, you will help strengthen technical capability, maintain excellent client service and support the continued growth of the team.
You will contribute to improving design quality and delivery efficiency, developing lower-carbon solutions, attracting talented recruits and delivering the wider business plan.
What's on offer
A flexible salary, anticipated at £100,000+ depending on experience.
Flexible location across Europe.
Hybrid and flexible working.
The opportunity to influence technical strategy and business growth.
High-profile UK and international data centre projects.
An established team and support for continued professional development.
The advertised UK benefits include 27 days' annual leave and private medical insurance. Packages for other European locations will be confirmed during the recruitment process.
