Recovery Navigator - North London (Camden & Islington, Harrow & Barnet, Enfield & Harringay)
Location: London
Salary: £27,000 per annum
About The Role
As a Recovery Navigator, you will work as part of a flexible, multidisciplinary team, supporting people on probation across Camden & Islington, Harrow & Barnet, and Enfield & Haringey.
Our service aims to bridge the gap between probation and community substance misuse treatment services, improving engagement and helping individuals overcome barriers to accessing and sustaining treatment.
You will manage a diverse caseload of adult male prison leavers and individuals serving community orders, providing practical assistance, structured interventions, advocacy and ongoing motivational support.
Working collaboratively with individuals, probation practitioners, treatment providers and wider partner agencies, you will empower people to take ownership of their recovery journey and make meaningful, sustainable changes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Recovery Navigator, you will:
- Manage a varied caseload: Support individuals with different levels of need and complexity, ensuring consistent and effective case management.
- Complete comprehensive assessments: Identify individual needs, risks, strengths and barriers to recovery.
- Develop collaborative action plans: Create SMART, person-centred plans that support progress towards agreed recovery goals.
- Provide one-to-one support: Deliver structured, motivational and trauma-informed interventions to encourage positive behavioural change.
- Facilitate group sessions: Deliver face-to-face and virtual group interventions that develop knowledge, confidence and recovery skills.
- Provide advocacy and practical support: Assist individuals with referral forms, attend appointments, make telephone calls, liaise with providers and facilitate access to services.
- Offer advice and guidance: Provide accessible information and practical guidance to help individuals understand and manage their dependency and recovery needs.
- Promote treatment engagement: Support access to existing statutory and commissioned substance misuse services and encourage sustained engagement.
- Maintain accurate records: Complete assessments, action plans, case notes and other documentation in line with organisational and commissioner requirements.
- Build effective partnerships: Develop positive working relationships with probation staff, healthcare professionals, treatment providers and community organisations.
- Promote positive outcomes: Work towards agreed service targets, supporting individuals to achieve controlled dependent behaviour or abstinence and reduce reoffending.
You will also have opportunities to develop specialist knowledge in areas such as supporting vulnerable groups, including people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, and individuals with specific needs, including chemsex.
