📍 Hull – site-based, 5 days per week.

I’m working with a fast moving product led business that supplies essential products to a number of highly regulated sectors worldwide.
They are looking to appoint a commercially minded Buyer to take ownership of day-to-day purchasing activities, while playing an important role in developing supplier relationships, improving purchasing performance and supporting the wider supply chain function.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied buying role, likes getting into the detail and wants to make a tangible impact on commercial performance.
About the role:
-
Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, from supplier sourcing and quotation analysis through to negotiation and purchase order management.
-
Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitoring performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
-
Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve value.
-
Support product sourcing, mapping and pricing exercises for commercial and tender opportunities.
-
Undertake market research and spend analysis to identify sourcing opportunities and price fluctuations.
-
Work closely with Sales, Operations, Warehouse and Finance to ensure purchasing activity supports business requirements.
-
Use Excel and reporting tools to support purchasing decisions, stock availability and supplier performance.
-
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of procurement processes and systems.
What we’re looking for:
-
Previous experience within a Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain position.
-
Experience sourcing suppliers, evaluating quotations and negotiating commercial terms.
-
Good understanding of stock management, inventory and supplier performance.
-
Strong commercial awareness, numerical ability and attention to detail.
-
Confident using Excel and working with purchasing data.
-
Experience using an ERP system.
-
Someone proactive, organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI or a similar reporting tool would be advantageous.
A CIPS qualification, or an interest in working towards one, would also be beneficial.
The Opportunity:
This is more than simply a transactional buying position. The business is looking for someone who wants to establish themselves, take ownership and develop their responsibilities as its buying strategy evolves.
There is genuine scope to influence supplier relationships, purchasing decisions and wider commercial performance.
If you’re an experienced Buyer looking for your next opportunity, or know someone who might be interested, I’d be keen to have a conversation.
