Learning Support Assistant
TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEN school based in Sevenoaks, supporting children with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). The school focuses on providing individualised support to help pupils develop their independence, communication and learning skills in a supportive environment.
The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Student Support Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate. The successful Student Support Assistant will be responsible for providing personal care, assisting with manual handling where necessary and supporting pupils with their educational, physical and personal development, with working hours varying according to the needs of the school. This job role will consist of substancial manual handling.
The successful Student Support Assistant will have:
Relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care, Childcare or SEND are desirable
Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex additional needs
Experience providing personal care and supporting with manual handling where required
An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining pupils' dignity and independence
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting children with additional needs
