Customs Operator – 4 On / 4 Off
Location: North East Lincolnshire
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 7:30am–6:30pm | 4 Days On, 4 Days Off
Experienced in customs clearance and looking for a role that offers a better balance to your working week?
If you're confident handling customs entries, understand the importance of accurate documentation and enjoy being the person who gets things sorted, this could be a great opportunity.
Winsearch Recruitment is working with an established logistics business to recruit a Customs Operator to support its import and transit activities.
You'll play an important part in making sure shipments are correctly documented, customs requirements are met and customers receive the support they need.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and submitting import declarations through CDS, ensuring information is accurate and compliant.
Producing transit documentation and supporting the clearance of goods entering the UK.
Using customs and port systems to process entries, monitor documentation and resolve discrepancies.
Liaising with customers and relevant authorities, including HMRC, Border Force and Port Health, when required.
Checking shipment information and following up on queries to help avoid unnecessary clearance delays.
Keeping accurate records and working closely with colleagues to ensure customs procedures are completed correctly.
About You
We're looking for someone who already understands the customs environment and can bring practical experience to the team.
You'll ideally have:
Hands-on experience completing customs declarations, particularly import entries.
Knowledge of CDS and transit procedures, with experience using customs systems.
A good understanding of UK import and export requirements.
Strong attention to detail and confidence working with documentation and data.
Good communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience with NCTS, Destin8 or Descartes would be advantageous, as would knowledge of customs procedures such as RGR, IPR or ATA Carnets.
A UK Customs Academy Level 3 qualification would also be beneficial but is not essential.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Four days on, followed by four days off.
For an experienced customs professional who enjoys the technical side of the job but wants something different from a traditional Monday-to-Friday working pattern, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
You'll be able to use your existing knowledge in a role where accuracy, problem-solving and good customer service genuinely matter.
Interested?
If you have customs experience and would like to find out more, I'd welcome a confidential conversation.
