I’m recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Middlesbrough. These roles have a behaviour focus but aren’t one-to-one. You’ll support pupils across Key Stage 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 11), working between mainstream classrooms and the school’s inclusion room.
What the role involves
Supporting teachers in lessons so pupils can stay focused and the class keeps moving
Working with small groups or individual pupils who need extra help with their learning or behaviour
Spending time in the inclusion room with pupils who’ve been removed from lessons, keeping them on task and helping them get back to class
Stepping in early to calm situations down before they escalate
Building positive relationships with pupils who find school hard
Following each school’s behaviour policy consistently
What I’m looking for
Experience working with young people, ideally including some with challenging behaviour. This could be in a school, a pupil referral unit, youth work, residential care, sports coaching or similar
Someone who stays calm under pressure and holds boundaries consistently
Confidence working with teenagers, including older Year 10 and 11 pupils
A Teaching Assistant qualification or Team Teach training is a bonus, but not essential
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
What you get from me
