Sphere Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Site Agent / Works Manager to oversee a highways and drainage project in Lyme Regis. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering essential infrastructure and drainage improvement works.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating multiple work gangs, managing daily site operations and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with the project programme.
You will oversee approximately 6–7 gangs, managing activities across highway works, gully drainage and associated infrastructure, while liaising with the wider project team and ensuring high standards of health and safety, quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate 6–7 gangs across highways and drainage operations.

Oversee gully drainage installation, highway works and associated civils activities.

Plan daily workloads, labour, plant and material requirements.

Monitor progress against programme and address delays or operational issues.

Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and RAMS.

Maintain high standards of health and safety across all site activities.

Carry out site inspections and monitor quality of workmanship.

Coordinate subcontractors and communicate daily priorities to site teams.

Liaise with the Project Manager, engineers, client representatives and other stakeholders.

Maintain accurate site records, daily reports and relevant project documentation.

Identify potential risks and implement appropriate control measures.

Ensure works are completed to specification and within agreed timescales.
Requirements
-
Previous experience as a Site Agent, Works Manager or Site Manager within civil engineering.

SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid – essential.

Strong experience in highways, drainage or infrastructure projects.

Experience managing multiple gangs and coordinating site resources.

Good understanding of construction drawings, RAMS and health and safety procedures.

Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and drive programme delivery.
