£29,000
12-month fixed-term contract

A great next step in food technical, with plenty of variety and the chance to get properly involved rather than being parked behind a spreadsheet.
We’re recruiting a Technical Assistant on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract covering maternity leave. The Client is a long-established food manufacturing business near Braintree in Essex. Working in a small, hands-on Technical team, you’ll help keep products safe, compliant and customer-ready across specifications, supplier approval, complaints, audits and factory checks.

Managing technical queries, complaints, non-conformances and customer portals.
-
Maintaining supplier approval records, specifications and shelf-life documentation.
-
Sending Certificates of Analysis and arranging microbiological testing with external laboratories.
-
Supporting internal and hygiene audits, environmental swabbing, traceability and mass balance exercises.
-
Checking contract packing and production records, plus supporting wider Technical and QC queries.
What we need
-
Some experience in Technical, Quality or QA within food manufacturing or food ingredients.
-
A working understanding of food safety standards and BRCGS requirements.
-
Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
-
Confidence using Microsoft Office and online customer / supplier systems.
-
A practical, calm approach and willingness to work across office, production and warehouse areas.
-
Internal auditor training and HACCP / CCP knowledge would be useful, but are not essential.
What’s in it for you
£29,000 on a 12-month fixed-term contract, working 8.30am to 5pm, with broad exposure across food safety, supplier assurance, specifications, complaints, audits and customer technical. It’s a strong opportunity to build depth in a generalist food technical role within an established ingredients business.
Applicants will need existing UK right to work covering the full 12-month contract. This could therefore suit someone already holding a Visa valid for the full contract period
