Head Chef | Perthshire
£40,000 + approx. £3,000 tronc + free on-site accommodation
Up to £45,000 if accommodation isn't required
We're looking for a Head Chef for a busy, independently owned cafe, restaurant and bar with rooms in a great Perthshire location.
This is an all-day operation with a strong breakfast and lunch trade, seasonal evening business and a steady flow of tourists, walkers and people travelling through the area who know it's worth stopping for.
The food transitions throughout the day from high quality breakfast offering and hearty lunches to elevated pub grub in the evenings. Good ingredients, generous cooking, strong Scottish produce and dishes people actually want to eat. There's scope to introduce new ideas, develop the menu and put your own stamp on things.
You'll also have some interesting produce to work with. The family behind the business owns a bakery and farm, both of which supply into the wider operation.
The Kitchen
Breakfast is an important part of the business, including regular coach parties, but there's a dedicated Breakfast Chef handling much of that trade.
As Head Chef, you'll take responsibility for the wider kitchen operation, including:
Menu development, specials and food quality
Leading and developing the kitchen team
Ordering, stock control and food margins
Kitchen standards, compliance and consistency
Working with the wider business to make the most of available produce You won't be left entirely to your own devices either. There's support from an experienced and highly regarded Executive Chef within the group, although their main focus is a nearby sister property.
Who would suit it?
You'll probably come from a good independent pub, restaurant or quality casual dining background, with the confidence to run a kitchen properly while keeping the food accessible and commercially sensible.
There's plenty of room for creativity, but it needs to work for the business and the customers coming through the door.
The company is family owned with good staff retention, so this should particularly suit someone looking for a role they can settle into and make their own.

Potential salary up to £45,000 if you don't require accommodation The location will be a big part of the appeal for the right person. It's surrounded by some fantastic countryside, with walking, cycling and the outdoors on your doorstep, while the roadside location keeps the business busy with visitors throughout the year.
