Warehouse Operative
Every customer order starts and ends on the warehouse floor. This role keeps standard industrial parts moving accurately from goods-in to dispatch, so production lines stay supplied and promised dates are kept. You will be judged on clean stock, error-free shipments, and a safe, orderly operation—not on how busy the day looks.
Performance Objectives
Receive, check, and put away inbound stock the same day so locations and quantities match the system before the next pick wave.
Pick, pack, and dispatch daily orders to cut-off with no preventable shortages, mis-picks, or labelling errors.
Hold inventory accuracy through cycle counts and location discipline, correcting discrepancies before they reach a customer.
Replenish pick faces ahead of demand so high-runners never stop an order mid-shift.
Protect product quality in handling, storage, and packing, cutting damage and returns caused in the warehouse.
Raise shortages, damages, and process gaps the same shift so supervisors can fix them before they miss a ship date.
Keep aisles, equipment, and paperwork compliant with safety and quality standards throughout the shift.
Environment & Resources
You will report to the Warehouse Supervisor and work with a small goods-in, storage, and dispatch team on a busy manufacturing site. Scanners, inventory software, packing stations, pallet trucks, and PPE are provided. Priorities are set against daily order cut-offs and stock targets; there is no discretionary budget.
Essential Qualifications
Proven goods-in, picking, packing, and dispatch experience in a parts or manufacturing warehouse.
Accurate use of scanners or an inventory system, plus reliable numeracy for counts and part numbers.
Safe manual handling; pallet-truck competence required, forklift licence an advantage.
Track record of hitting daily output without sacrificing accuracy on small components.
Consistent attendance and the stamina for a physical, on-site shift.
Habit of following safety and quality procedures and flagging problems early.
Role Selling Points
Visible impact: your accuracy shows up in on-time deliveries the same day.
Broad industrial range—clamps, handles, castors, fasteners, and machine accessories—not a single-SKU operation.
Standards-led team that values a correct pick over a rushed one.
Clear path to learn the full flow from receipt through stock control to dispatch.
