Business Development Executive - London & South East Territory
Salary: £40,000 per annum + 3% monthly commission
Our client is a successful flooring and textile distribution company based in Telford, with additional offices in France and Belgium. They specialise in supplying vinyl flooring, bespoke carpet and artificial grass for exhibitions, events and display environments. They are looking to expand their UK sales team and are recruiting for a dynamic Business Development Executive to develop new business and grow customer relationships across London and the South East.
Are you a motivated, commercially minded sales professional who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships and turning opportunities into sales? This is an exciting opportunity for someone with proven B2B product sales experience who thrives on winning new business, re-engaging lapsed customers and taking ownership of their own sales territory. You'll be representing an established business with a specialist product range, with product training provided as part of your induction.
This is a genuinely field-based role requiring travel across your territory, face-to-face selling and the drive to make every day count. You'll need to be proactive, organised and comfortable generating your own appointments rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries or an existing pipeline.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the South East and London territory, identifying new opportunities, winning new customers and rebuilding relationships with businesses that have previously purchased from the company.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
New business development - Proactively identifying and approaching potential B2B customers through cold calling, market research and face-to-face visits.
-
Winning back lapsed customers - Reconnecting with previous customers, understanding their current requirements and converting dormant accounts into active business.
-
Face-to-face sales - Visiting prospective and existing customers, presenting products and identifying opportunities to grow sales.
-
Appointment setting - Generating your own leads, arranging meetings and managing your diary to maximise the number and quality of customer visits.
-
Territory management - Planning your travel and appointments effectively to make the most of your allocated sales area.
-
Account development - Building strong customer relationships, understanding their needs and developing long-term commercial opportunities.
-
Negotiation and closing - Discussing pricing, product quality and delivery options to meet customer requirements and secure sales.
-
Sales pipeline management -Maintaining accurate CRM records, tracking opportunities and monitoring progress against sales objectives.
Extensive travel is a key part of this role, and occasional expense-paid overnight stays will be required when necessary (e.g. when arranging multiple appointments in one area across more than one working day). You'll also be required to attend the Telford office at least once per month for sales meetings.
What You'll Bring to the Role
We're looking for someone who is dynamic, driven and motivated, with a genuine appetite for sales and the confidence to develop business independently. This role will suit someone who enjoys being out meeting customers, actively generating business and taking ownership of their results.
You'll ideally have:
-
Proven B2B sales experience, specifically selling products or commodities to business customers.
-
A track record of winning new business, generating leads and developing customer accounts.
-
Experience in cold calling, prospecting and arranging your own customer appointments.
-
The ability to re-engage lapsed customers and convert previous relationships into new sales opportunities.
-
Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage a large territory and your own diary.
-
Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
-
Commercial awareness, including an understanding of pricing, margins and sales opportunities.
-
A proactive, resilient approach and the motivation to work independently and achieve results.
-
A full, valid UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel extensively throughout the territory.
Previous experience in flooring or textile sales would be an advantage but is not essential. Product training will be provided as part of your induction, so we're keen to hear from candidates with transferable B2B product sales experience across other industries.
What's on Offer?
-
£40,000 basic salary per annum.
-
3% commission on sales, paid monthly in arrears.
-
Uncapped commission
-
Company car.
-
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
-
Product training as part of your induction.
-
The opportunity to develop an established sales territory and win new business.
-
Autonomy to manage your own diary, customer relationships and sales pipeline.
Interviews with our client will be throughout November 2026, with an ideal start date of 4th January 2027.
If you're an ambitious B2B sales professional who enjoys winning business, building customer relationships and spending your time out in the field, we'd love to hear from you
