Sales Executive
Location: Oldham office OL2 6LH, shared with Tindall Engineering
Salary: Competitive DOE
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm
The Role
Stafford Bridge Doors is looking for a confident, organised and commercially minded Sales Executive to join our team at our Oldham office.
This is an important customer-facing role within the business, managing incoming sales opportunities, preparing quotations, following up projects and supporting both our customers and external sales team.
We are looking for someone who can communicate professionally, build good customer relationships and take ownership of enquiries from initial contact through to order.
Our products operate within the specialist door and security market and can be technically detailed. We don’t expect applicants to already understand everything we manufacture, but we do want someone with the ability and enthusiasm to develop a strong understanding of our products, customers and markets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Managing incoming sales calls, emails and website enquiries.
• Speaking directly with customers and end users to understand their requirements.
• Preparing accurate and professional quotations.
• Following up quotations and actively progressing sales opportunities.
• Establishing project timescales and maintaining accurate sales forecasts.
• Understanding why quotations have been won or lost and feeding this information back into the business.
• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Supporting external members of the sales team with quotations and customer enquiries.
• Revising quotations as specifications or customer requirements change.
• Keeping sales information, forecasts and internal systems accurate and up to date.
• Coordinating sales meetings and maintaining relevant actions and forecasts.
• Preparing for and attending project handover meetings once orders are secured.
• Attending customer and pre-start meetings when required.
• Preparing quotations for variations and additional works.
What We’re Looking For:
For us, the right person is more important than a particular set of academic qualifications.
• Communicates confidently and professionally with customers.
• Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Is commercially aware and comfortable discussing prices and quotations.
• Is proactive and prepared to follow up opportunities rather than simply waiting for customers to respond.
• Is comfortable working with numbers, specifications and detailed information.
• Has good general IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office.
• Can manage multiple enquiries and priorities.
• Is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for their workload.
• Works well as part of a wider sales and projects team.
• Has a genuine interest in developing their knowledge of our products and industry.
Previous experience in sales, customer service, account management, construction, manufacturing or another technical environment would be beneficial, but we are open to applicants from other backgrounds who can demonstrate the right commercial ability and approach.
Development & Product Knowledge
The successful candidate will develop a detailed understanding of Stafford Bridge Doors’ products, quotation processes and customer requirements.
The role will involve working closely with experienced colleagues across Sales, Projects and Engineering, as well as having exposure to Tindall Engineering and the wider group through our shared Oldham office.
For the right person, there is considerable scope to develop their commercial and technical knowledge and take on greater responsibility as their experience grows.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of some of the markets and projects we work within, the successful candidate will be required to complete appropriate security vetting and will be expected to work towards SC clearance. This will be discussed during the recruitment process.
