About Adepto
Established in 2015, Adepto is a growing technical recruitment business supplying skilled professionals to clients across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Payroll & Finance Officer to join our existing support team in Altrincham. This is a varied, hands-on role offering exposure to finance, contractor payroll and wider business operations.
Reporting to our Financial Controller, you will work alongside an experienced team, helping to ensure our finance and payroll processes run smoothly, accurately and to deadline.
While this position is initially to cover maternity leave, there is potential for it to be extended as the business continues to grow.
The Role
Finance

-
Processing purchase ledger transactions and supporting supplier payments.
-
Completing bank reconciliations.
-
Assisting with financial reporting, including profit and loss reports, budgets, sales reports and forecasts.
-
Supporting wider finance projects and operational activities as required.
Previous finance experience or relevant qualifications would be beneficial, but support and development will be available.
Payroll & Contractor Support
Adepto supplies contract engineers to clients across multiple countries, so accurate timesheet management, payroll coordination and invoicing are essential to our operation.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Supporting the accurate and timely processing of contractor payrolls.
-
Chasing and checking timesheets to ensure they are correctly completed, approved and submitted by agreed deadlines.
-
Checking contractor invoices and expenses, ensuring the relevant information is received and processed correctly.
-
Supporting client invoicing and ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
-
Responding to contractor and client queries professionally and efficiently.
-
Helping maintain compliant payroll processes and ensuring relevant statutory requirements are met.
-
Working closely with colleagues across finance, compliance and client services to resolve queries and keep things moving.
Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems would be an advantage.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable managing a varied workload. You should be confident working with figures, handling data accurately and communicating with colleagues, contractors and clients.
Ideally, you will have:
-
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and data entry.
-
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
-
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, positive approach.
-
Good attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving attitude.
-
The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
-
The confidence to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
-
Previous experience in finance, payroll or administration.
Experience with Xero, Timesheet Portal or within the recruitment sector would be beneficial, but is not essential. We are happy to consider someone with transferable skills who is keen to learn and develop.
Why Join Adepto?
-
A part-time role offering 25 hours per week.
-
The opportunity to work within an established and growing recruitment business.
-
A varied position covering finance, payroll and contractor support.
-
Support and development from an experienced team.
-
The potential for the role to continue beyond maternity cover, depending on business growth.
