THE BUSINESS
We’re working with one of the UK’s most established property consultancies. A genuinely national firm with a deep bench across every discipline, the kind of name that’s been valuing property in this country for generations and isn’t going anywhere. Within it sits a specialist trading and leisure team: the people who value the pubs, bars and hotels you actually recognise. Big enough that you’ll never worry about where next month’s work comes from, small enough that everyone knows your name and you’re not just a line on a spreadsheet to someone three floors up who’s never met you. That combination is rarer than it sounds. Most firms are one or the other.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is the part worth reading twice. The team is growing, and a planned round of senior succession is opening up genuine leadership roles. Not “leadership” in the way job adverts usually mean it, where you get the title and none of the room. We’re talking about real client ownership, a seat at the table, and a clear, mapped route to Director and ultimately equity for the people who earn it.
If you’ve spent a few years doing the work while watching someone more senior take the credit and the progression, this is the opposite of that. The people joining now are the ones the firm expects to be running regions in a few years’ time. Three roles, three
regions, and a business that has thought seriously about where each of them leads.
THE ROLE
Providing valuation and advisory services across a broad range of trading and leisure
property: pubs, bars, boutique accommodation and hotels, from small operators up to
larger hospitality assets. The work is valuation led, with a healthy split of secured lending and panel instructions alongside private client, consultancy, acquisition and pension work. Roughly three quarters panel, one quarter private. There’s lease advisory and landlord and tenant work in the mix too if that’s where your interest sits, though it isn’t a requirement to come in with it. You’ll work your own patch and your own client relationships, backed by a team with serious sector knowledge sitting right behind you. Networking and business development are part of the job, but the brand does a lot of the heavy lifting before you’ve even walked in the door.
WHERE
Three regionally based, home-based roles:
Midlands (Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and surrounds)
North East (Leeds, Newcastle and across)
South and South East (London, the M3 corridor through Hampshire, out toward Essex and East Anglia)
The firm is flexible on exactly where you’re based within each region. The working assumption is travel within roughly a two hour radius of home, with hybrid and flexible working as standard. You’re not commuting to a desk every day.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
MRICS, with a minimum of three years PQE
RICS Registered Valuer status
Solid Red Book valuation experience (secured lending or bank valuation experience is a real advantage)
Strong report writing and a good eye for detail
Comfortable with Excel and Word
A full driving licence and the willingness to get out and see property
A genuine interest in the trading and leisure sector
Direct pub or hotel experience is a bonus, not a barrier. The team’s view is simple: if you can value a pub, you can value a hotel. The sector knowledge can be taught. The interest and the attitude can’t, so those matter more.
THE PACKAGE
Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience
Car allowance
Performance bonus, tied to your own contribution and the team’s
Pension (3% employer, 5% employee)
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
