Sports Coach – Stockport

Role: Day-to-day and short-term supply, with potential for longer-term opportunities
Pay: £90–£120 per day, depending on experience
Cover People are looking for enthusiastic Sports Coaches to support schools across Stockport, helping pupils develop their sporting abilities, confidence and teamwork skills.
These opportunities are primarily day-to-day and short-term cover, offering flexibility for candidates who want to gain experience in education or fit school-based work around other commitments. There may also be opportunities for longer-term placements where schools require continued support.
This could be an excellent fit for Sports Graduates, PE Graduates, qualified coaches and individuals with experience delivering sports activities to children and young people.
What Does the Role Involve?
Working across different school environments, you may be asked to:
Assist with PE lessons and practical sporting activities.
Lead warm-ups, drills, games and skills-based sessions.
Support pupils individually or in small groups.
Encourage participation among pupils with different abilities and confidence levels.
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship and positive behaviour.
Help organise sports clubs, competitions and enrichment activities.
Support pupils' physical development and confidence.
Work alongside teachers and other school staff.
Adapt activities to meet the needs of the pupils.
Maintain a safe and inclusive environment during all activities.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from energetic, reliable candidates who enjoy motivating young people and can bring a positive attitude into the classroom, sports hall or playing field.
Relevant experience may include:
Sports coaching or PE support
Football, rugby, cricket or basketball coaching
Athletics, fitness or other sporting activities
Youth work or community sports programmes
Sports Science or PE-related studies
A relevant qualification, degree or coaching badge would be beneficial, although practical experience working with children and young people will also be considered.
You should have strong communication skills, confidence supervising groups and the ability to manage behaviour appropriately.
