Breakdown Recovery/Roadside Driver
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Breakdown Recovery/Roadside Driver to join our team. This role involves providing prompt assistance to vehicles in distress, ensuring safe and efficient recovery operations. The successful candidate will possess strong driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities to coordinate effectively during recovery missions. Duties of the Recovery Driver

Respond swiftly to breakdown calls and assess the situation on-site or en route.

Operate commercial vehicles, including flatbed lorries and recovery trucks, in compliance with all safety regulations.

Safely recover and tow vehicles using appropriate equipment, ensuring no damage during transport.

Conduct basic mechanical inspections and minor repairs when necessary to facilitate vehicle recovery.

Maintain accurate records of recoveries, including details of the incident and vehicle condition.

Assist with loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring secure placement on recovery vehicles.

Communicate effectively with clients, dispatchers, and team members to coordinate recovery operations efficiently.

Adhere to all health and safety protocols during recovery activities.
Skills needed for the Recovery Driver

Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly as a driving or delivery driver.

Strong driving skills with a valid HGV driver’s licence.

Mechanical knowledge to identify common vehicle issues and perform basic repairs.

Experience operating flatbed trucks or specialised recovery vehicles such as lorries.

Warehouse experience is advantageous for understanding logistics and vehicle handling.

Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and team members clearly and professionally.

Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment or vehicle parts safely.

Knowledge of road safety regulations and recovery procedures. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in commercial driving who are organised, safety-conscious, and capable of working under pressure in various conditions. The shifts are 4 on 2 off 12 hour shifts to include days, lates and nights.
This job is not a 9-5 job so please do not apply if you can't work shifts.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent & Weekend roles available.

You will need great customer service skills as dealing with people in sometimes difficult circumstances.
You'll be ready to do a lot of driving to all kinds of locations in all weathers, and work quickly and efficiently.
Experience is not essential but must have some vehicle knowledge and a minimum 7.5T license, or Class 1 or 2 with up to date CPC and tacho card.
Full uniform will be provided and company Pension.
