Mainstream Primary School - ASAP Start
Academics are working with a welcoming primary school in Cheltenham that is looking for a caring and dedicated Individual Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs.
You'll work alongside the class teacher and wider school team to provide tailored support, adapting activities to suit the pupil's individual needs. Previous experience in education, childcare, care or support work would be beneficial, although a patient, positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Working Pattern: Full-time, term time only
Pay: £90-£105 per day, depending on experience
DBS: Enhanced DBS required, or willingness to applyWhat Will You Be Doing?
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to help a pupil engage with classroom learning and daily activities.
Adapting tasks and learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
Supporting communication, interaction and social development.
Following the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and guidance from the school team.
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships with peers.
Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to maintain consistent support.Who Would Suit This Role?
We're looking for someone who is patient, empathetic and committed to helping children succeed. You'll need to be attentive to individual needs, adaptable in your approach and confident building a positive relationship with a pupil.
Experience supporting children with additional needs would be beneficial, particularly within a school or childcare setting. Knowledge of communication methods such as BSL, Makaton or other augmentative and alternative communication approaches would also be useful, but is not essential.
This role could suit an aspiring teacher, psychology or education graduate, experienced teaching assistant, or someone looking to develop a career in special educational needs and inclusive education.
