Electrical Estimator – MEP / Critical Infrastructure
Salary: £65,000+ per annum, depending on experience, plus company car or car allowance. Permanent, full-time
PW Construction Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Estimator for a specialist engineering business delivering data centre and critical infrastructure projects across the UK.
This opportunity would suit an Electrical Estimator or MEP / Building Services Estimator with strong technical knowledge and experience preparing competitive tenders.
You will take ownership of estimates from initial enquiry through to final submission, pricing major plant, electrical systems and mechanical, electrical and fabric subcontract packages.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to establish scope, requirements and clarifications.

Undertaking detailed take-offs and preparing estimates, cost plans and tender pricing.

Issuing material and subcontractor enquiries, analysing quotations and checking compliance.

Pricing major plant, electrical systems and specialist subcontract packages.

Attending site visits with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

Identifying technical and commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering options.

Working with design, engineering, commercial and delivery teams to assess project methodology.

Highlighting long-lead equipment and procurement or programme constraints.

Using estimating software and supporting the preparation of tender programmes.

Preparing internal tender documentation for senior approval and supporting formal submissions.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates should have estimating experience within electrical contracting, MEP, building services or critical infrastructure.
A strong understanding of electrical systems and working knowledge of wider MEP services are essential. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings, undertaking take-offs and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
You will need strong numerical and commercial skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders to deadline. Clear communication and effective working relationships with technical teams and suppliers are also important.
Data centre, communications room or critical infrastructure experience is highly advantageous. Candidates with relevant electrical, M&E contracting, critical power or commercial engineering experience will also be considered.
An HNC, HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.
A full UK driving licence and the ability to attend site visits and client meetings are required. Security clearance or previous experience on secure projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
