Based at our Actuation Systems headquarters in Wolverhampton, you'll join our Health, Safety & Environment team and play an active role in maintaining a safe, compliant and sustainable workplace.
During your 12-month placement, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of HSE activities including workplace inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects. You'll work closely with operational teams, supervisors and managers across the business to help drive positive safety and environmental outcomes.
This placement provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical HSE knowledge, gain industry experience and build the foundations for a future career in health, safety and environmental management.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation and maintenance of the site's Health & Safety Management System.
Assist with workplace inspections, safety audits and compliance activities.
Participate in risk assessments and review control measures.
Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
Monitor corrective actions and support follow-up activities.
Assist with environmental monitoring and sustainability initiatives.
Help maintain HSE records, documentation and performance data.
Support internal audits and management system activities.
Analyse HSE performance data and identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Contribute to employee engagement, awareness campaigns and continuous improvement projects.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria
On track to achieve a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline.
Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
A proactive attitude with a genuine interest in health, safety, environmental management and sustainability.
Desirable Criteria
Understanding of UK health and safety legislation or environmental compliance requirements.
Knowledge of ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems.
Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis or previous exposure to a manufacturing or engineering environment.
