The Role
Braxfield Recruitment is working with a leading housing association, to appoint a Fire Safety Officer to their fire safety team to provide oversight that fire and building safety duties are being met across a diverse portfolio of tenures and property types.
You'll provide advice, support to duty holders and operational teams, and take professional responsibility for the assurance you give. Working with a high level of autonomy, you'll help strengthen fire safety capability across the organisation and contribute to the design of future standards and systems, guided by senior fire safety leads.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting duty holders to maintain compliance, including the requirements for higher-risk buildings (HRBs), and informing them of upcoming legislative and regulatory changes.
Assuring the quality of fire risk assessments, and the completion of both immediate and planned FRA actions.
Monitoring building safety case files, checking the quality and relevance of the information held and that it is kept up to date.
Assuring contractor competency and accreditation on fire safety projects, and carrying out QA checks on completed works for suitability and compliance with fire standards.
Assuring routine inspection regimes, works completion and resident liaison and communication on fire safety matters.
Supporting and challenging teams across repairs, housing, planned investment, development, asset management and customer services to embed consistent, proportionate fire risk reduction.
Challenging systems and processes that underpin the fire safety risk management framework, and escalating concerns to senior fire safety leads.
What You'll Need
A Fire Safety Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
A NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.
A demonstrable understanding of fire safety and its application in social housing, building construction, repairs, inspection and maintenance.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of an organisation.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, building relationships with stakeholders, duty holders and external agencies.
A can-do, solution-focused attitude with proven problem-solving skills.
Experience of keeping accurate compliance records, including data logging and numeric and photographic records, in a digital environment.
The ability to travel and a full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Experience in a construction, building or facilities management environment, ideally within social housing or residential management.
Knowledge and experience of fire risk assessment methodology, audit and the legislation surrounding fire safety.
A good understanding of how fire systems work in building assets, and of fire safety risk management systems in a large organisation.
Experience working with government bodies and regulators on fire safety matters.

£46,586 - £52,052 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits.
