Step Teachers are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to support a welcoming school in Enfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance experience who enjoys working in a busy school environment and takes pride in ensuring facilities are safe, secure, and well maintained.The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the school site, helping to create a safe and positive environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Duties as a Site Assistant:
Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site
Assist with the opening and closing of school buildings when required
Ensure the school premises remain safe, clean, secure, and well presented
Support health and safety procedures and report any concerns promptly
Undertake routine checks of school facilities, equipment, and grounds
Assist with setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities
Liaise with contractors and visitors attending the site
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff
Support site security procedures and emergency arrangements where necessary
Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the school leadership teamIdeal Site Assistant:
Previous experience within a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site assistant role
Good practical DIY and maintenance skills
Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a workplace
Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
Reliable, proactive, and organised approach to work
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential
