Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable hands-on experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs?
Pertemps Education Network is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Lambeth to recruit a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Psychology, Autism & SEN Learning Support Assistant to join its specialist Autism Provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate or aspiring educational, clinical or child psychologist to develop practical experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional needs within a primary school environment.
Working closely with experienced teachers, SEN professionals and support staff, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop their communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
The Role:
Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils within a specialist Autism Provision.
Support children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties and associated learning needs.
Help pupils access the curriculum through differentiated activities and individual learning strategies.
Support the development of communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills.
Implement structured learning activities and interventions to encourage engagement and independence.
Provide consistent, positive support for pupils who may display challenging behaviour or experience sensory and communication difficulties.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider multidisciplinary team to support individual pupil development.
Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment where every child can reach their potential.The Ideal Candidate:
A Psychology graduate or graduate in a related discipline, such as Child Development, Education or Speech and Language.
A genuine interest in autism, neurodevelopment and special educational needs.
Previous experience working with children with autism or additional needs would be advantageous.
An understanding of social communication, sensory processing and emotional regulation.
Patient, empathetic and resilient, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with children.
A proactive and adaptable individual who can respond positively to the varying needs of pupils.
