GCP DevOps Consultant

Sheffield based (2 days per week onsite)

6 Month contract

£475 per day (inside IR35)

We're currently supporting an organisation based Sheffield who require an experienced DevOps Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing, automating, and optimising cloud-native platforms within a highly regulated enterprise environment. Responsible for driving DevOps best practices, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and Kubernetes-based deployments across Google Cloud, helping to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.

Role Responsibilities

Design, build, and support scalable cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud (GCP).
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting languages.
Manage and optimise Kubernetes (GKE) environments, Docker containers, and Helm deployments.
Build, enhance, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
Implement DevSecOps practices, integrating security and code quality tools into delivery pipelines.
Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and automation.
Monitor and optimise platform performance using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and AppDynamics.
Support hybrid cloud environments and ensure robust networking and security controls are in place.
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and pipeline-related issues.
Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and best practice adoption.

Experience Required

Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GKE, and Kubernetes.
Expertise in Docker, Helm Charts, and containerised deployments.
Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and Infrastructure as Code.
Strong knowledge of Jenkins CI/CD, Groovy pipelines, Git, and branching strategies.
Experience implementing DevSecOps tooling including SonarQube, Checkmarx, and container security scanning.
Solid Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Datadog, Grafana, and AppDynamics.
Knowledge of networking, firewalls, and enterprise DevOps operating models.
Experience supporting applications across hybrid and public cloud environments.
