We are seeking an experienced and committed SENCO to join our welcoming and ambitious secondary school in North London.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate SEND professional to lead and further develop the school's provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all students receive the support, opportunities and high-quality education they need to thrive.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teaching staff, families, external professionals and students, you will provide strategic leadership for SEND across the school and ensure that effective systems and interventions are in place.
The Role
As SENCO, you will:
Lead and develop the school's SEND provision in line with current legislation and best practice.
Oversee the identification, assessment and monitoring of students with additional needs.
Work closely with teachers to ensure appropriate differentiation, reasonable adjustments and effective classroom strategies are embedded.
Coordinate EHCP processes, annual reviews and liaison with the Local Authority.
Manage and support the SEND team, including teaching assistants and other specialist staff.
Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies to secure the best possible outcomes for students.
Monitor the progress, attainment and wellbeing of students with SEND.
Contribute to whole-school improvement and staff training around SEND.
Promote an inclusive culture where every student is supported to achieve their potential.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working as a SENCO or in a significant SEND leadership role within a secondary school.
Has a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
Holds, or is willing to complete, the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) where required.
Has excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Can work strategically while remaining focused on the individual needs of students.
Is confident working with parents, colleagues, Local Authorities and external professionals.
Is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for young people with SEND.
Can lead, inspire and develop colleagues across the school.
