We’re recruiting a Stock Controller for an established food manufacturer in the West Midlands. Working across on-site warehouses and external storage partners, you’ll take ownership of stock accuracy and help ensure production has the materials it needs.
It’s a mix of systems work and hands-on stock checks, with regular warehouse activity and visits to third-party storage locations when required.
The role
Maintain accurate inventory records in SAP across on-site and external warehouses.
Investigate stock discrepancies and reconcile physical quantities against system records.
Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly and annual stock counts.
Arrange supplier delivery bookings into third-party warehouses and monitor receipts.
Work closely with planning, procurement, suppliers and warehouse teams to resolve stock issues.
Visit external storage locations to carry out stock checks, audits and reconciliations.
Produce inventory reports, monitor stock accuracy and highlight shortages or other risks.
Identify improvements to stock control processes and warehouse working practices.
You won’t have direct reports, but you’ll coordinate warehouse colleagues during stock counts and provide guidance on inventory procedures.
What you’ll bring
At least three years’ experience in stock control, inventory or warehouse operations.
Experience using SAP or another warehouse management system.
A practical understanding of stock reconciliation and discrepancy investigation.
Experience organising stocktakes and cycle counts.
Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
Experience working with suppliers and third-party warehouses.
Clear communication skills and the confidence to follow issues through to resolution.
Food manufacturing experience would be particularly relevant.
