Fairmead are currently recruiting a Construction Buyer on a long-term contract basis on behalf of our client, a specialist logistics and construction contractor working on one of the most significant new build developments in the UK.

What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of procurement across materials, plant, equipment and subcontract services for a major logistics and construction programme. That means sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, issuing purchase orders, managing delivery schedules with site and project teams, tracking long lead items, and producing monthly procurement reports. You'll work closely with Commercial Managers, QSs, Project Managers and Logistics Managers to keep procurement aligned with programme and budget.
What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Construction Buyer or Procurement Manager in a construction or infrastructure environment

Comfortable sourcing, comparing and negotiating quotations at scale

Strong on cost control — reviewing material costs against allowances, identifying savings and value engineering opportunities

Experience managing supplier relationships and supply chain risk

Good on the admin side — procurement trackers, commitment schedules, audit trails

Confident working across multiple interfaces including commercial, site and design teams

Construction sector background essential
