SEND Teaching Assistant – Sheffield
PK Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in specialist schools across the Sheffield area. You’ll support children who may display low-level challenging behaviour, using sensory equipment and activities to help them engage in learning and feel comfortable in the classroom.
The role
Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups, following their individual needs and routines
Use sensory resources to encourage engagement, communication and regulation
Respond to behaviour calmly and consistently, working alongside the class teacher and wider team
Provide personal care when required, with dignity and respect
Desirable qualities
Experience working with children with SEND in a school or another professional setting
A patient, adaptable approach and experience supporting low-level challenging behaviour
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one to work in schools
Willingness to travel up to an hour to reach specialist school placements
