We are currently recruiting for an experienced Food Inspection Officer / Environmental Health Officer to join a busy Local Authority Environmental Health team.
The successful candidate will primarily support the Council’s Food Safety function, carrying out programmed food hygiene inspections, investigations and enforcement activity across a range of food premises.
You will be responsible for inspecting, auditing and monitoring food businesses in accordance with relevant legislation and the FSA Food Law Code of Practice. You will investigate complaints and potential food safety breaches, provide professional advice to businesses and determine appropriate enforcement action where required. This may include preparing statutory notices, gathering evidence, producing reports and supporting legal proceedings.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
BSc/MSc in Environmental Health or equivalent relevant experience
FSA Food Law Code of Practice competency / Authorised Officer status
Previous food hygiene inspection experience
Strong knowledge of food safety legislation
Experience of enforcement and investigation work
Local Authority experience is highly desirable
Ability to independently manage and prioritise a caseload
Driving licence/access to transport or ability to travel across the areaThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Food Safety Officer or EHO looking for their next Local Authority assignment.
