A South London local authority is looking to appoint an experienced Housing Options Officer on an initial 3-6 month contract. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team and manage a varied homelessness caseload, helping residents secure sustainable housing outcomes.
The role will involve:
Assessing homelessness applications and determining duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Carrying out Housing Needs Assessments and creating effective Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).
Delivering prevention and relief duties and working proactively to prevent homelessness.
Conducting detailed enquiries and issuing legally compliant decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
Liaising with landlords, support services and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes for applicants.
Assessing temporary accommodation duties and exploring all available housing options.What we're looking for:
Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Experience managing Prevention and Relief duties from initial approach through to case closure.
Availability to attend the office 3 days per week.
