I'm currently working with a well-regarded planning and development consultancy that is looking to strengthen its Exeter team with the appointment of a Town Planner.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner who wants to work on a varied portfolio of projects, develop their career and gain exposure to a broad range of planning matters across the South West.
The role
As a Town Planner, you'll work closely with clients, colleagues, local authorities and other stakeholders, providing planning advice and supporting projects from inception through to delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and submitting planning applications and associated documentation
Undertaking planning research and policy assessments
Providing planning advice to a range of clients
Supporting the preparation of planning strategies and development proposals
Liaising with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
Managing your own workload and contributing to wider project teams
Assisting with appeals, representations and other planning matters
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
About you
We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in planning and development who is keen to progress within a consultancy environment.
You'll ideally have:
A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment
A good understanding of the UK planning system and current planning policy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
A commercially aware and client-focused approach
Membership of the RTPI, or working towards chartership, would be advantageousMost importantly, you'll be proactive, personable and keen to develop your career within a collaborative team.
