Health & Safety CDM Consultant
Location: South East England, principally Greater London and surrounding counties
Working pattern: Remote/Client site visits/Work from home
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Overview
Our client is an innovative and highly regarded Health & Safety and Facilities Management consultancy, currently seeking a Health, Safety & CDM Consultant to join their growing team. This role has a strong focus on CDM (Construction, Design and Management) Regulations, supporting clients with construction-related health and safety compliance, while also covering broader H&S consultancy work. Experience or a qualification in Fire Safety would be a useful addition.
You will not be the typical safety police. You will be a problem-solver with a creative mindset, someone clients genuinely enjoy seeing - inspiring others rather than being feared. You will help clients understand that well-developed safety systems are a business benefit, not a business cost.
Purpose of the Role
Supporting clients across a range of sectors, you will be responsible for delivering an outstanding H&S consultancy service - with a particular focus on CDM compliance - offering expert advice and guidance to help clients manage and reduce health and safety risks in their workplaces, while providing best-practice support to improve internal H&S processes.
Key Responsibilities
-
Act as the main point of contact on CDM compliance, advising Clients, Principal Designers and Principal Contractors on their duties under the CDM Regulations 2015.
-
Conduct site visits, inspections and compliance audits to identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace.
-
Provide onsite or remote H&S management and consultancy support.
-
Develop and implement bespoke health and safety processes and procedures that comply with current UK legislation and industry standards.
-
Provide expert advice to clients on risk assessments, accident investigations, compliance and emergency planning.
-
Deliver health and safety awareness programmes to promote a strong safety culture within client organisations.
-
Assist clients in achieving relevant health and safety certifications such as ISO 45001.
-
Successfully build and manage client relationships to promote the organisation and encourage new business opportunities.
-
Ensure consistent delivery of standards across all clients, projects and offices.
Skills and Experience
-
Previous experience working in Health & Safety with a proven track record of delivering high-quality advice and support.
-
Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations and industry best practices, particularly the CDM Regulations 2015.
-
Experience completing H&S audits and implementing action plans.
-
Ability to interpret and communicate health and safety issues clearly to third parties.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
-
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with outstanding attention to detail.
-
Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Project.
-
Ability to work autonomously and flexibly in response to business needs.
-
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the South East when required.
-
Understanding of a variety of working cultures, professions, businesses and industries.
Qualifications Required
Essential
-
Strong working knowledge of the CDM (Construction, Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
-
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Award in Fire Safety or equivalent. Our client is open to sponsoring the right candidate to achieve this qualification.
Candidate Attributes
-
A creative, inspiring approach - solutions-focused, not compliance-policing.
-
Ability to build genuine rapport with clients and colleagues.
-
Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
-
Understanding of a variety of working cultures, professions and industries.

This is an immediate opening for a professional who thrives working autonomously and flexibly within a growing, innovative business. You will join a team that values quality, client relationships and making safety genuinely work for businesses - not against them.
