A growing specialist consultancy is looking for a Principal Geoenvironmental Consultant to join its team in Middlesbrough.
This is a senior position for an experienced geoenvironmental professional who is confident managing projects, dealing directly with clients and providing technical input across contaminated land and ground investigation projects.
The role would suit someone who enjoys having a good level of responsibility and wants to be involved in both the technical and commercial side of projects, with the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of the regional team.
The Role
You'll be involved in a varied portfolio of work across the North East, including brownfield development, contaminated land, site investigation and remediation projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing geoenvironmental projects from initial proposal through to completion
Preparing and reviewing Phase 1 and Phase 2 assessments
Producing contaminated land risk assessments and conceptual site models
Planning and managing intrusive ground investigations
Interpreting soil, groundwater and gas monitoring data
Developing remediation strategies and overseeing validation
Providing technical advice to clients, developers and contractors
Reviewing and signing off technical reports
Preparing fee proposals and tenders
Managing project budgets, programmes and resources
Liaising with regulators and local authorities
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
Building and maintaining client relationships
Identifying opportunities for repeat business and supporting the wider team with business developmentThere is also scope to get involved in more complex contaminated land and remediation projects, particularly across the Teesside and wider North East market, where historic industrial activity has created a range of interesting ground and environmental challenges.
About You
We're looking for an experienced geoenvironmental consultant who is ready to operate at Principal level, or an experienced Senior Consultant looking for the next step.
You'll ideally have:
A degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Geoscience or a related subject
Significant experience within geoenvironmental consultancy
Strong contaminated land and site investigation experience
Experience managing Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations
Good understanding of remediation and validation
Experience managing projects, budgets and programmes
Strong technical report writing skills
Confidence dealing directly with clients and other stakeholders
Experience mentoring or managing junior consultants
A commercial approach and an interest in developing client relationships
A full UK driving licenceChartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous, but the main focus is on strong practical and consultancy experience.
