Job Description - The Role
The Risk & Controls Analyst supports Global Financial Crime Compliance (GFCC) in identifying, assessing, monitoring and mitigating risk.
The role helps strengthen the controls framework through testing, assurance, oversight and continuous improvement, while supporting effective governance, risk insight and reporting. It also maintains accurate risk documentation, controls, assessments and issue management to ensure risks are effectively understood and managed in line with
What you'll do:
Support the identification, assessment, monitoring and mitigation of GFCC risks.
Deliver risk, control testing and oversight activities in line with M&G's Operational Risk Framework.
Maintain and enhance the GFCC risk profile, ensuring risk registers, controls, issues, assessments and documentation are accurate and up to date.
Provide risk insight, reporting and recommendations to support decision-making and senior management oversight.
Support risk governance forums by preparing materials, tracking actions and delivering risk and control updates.
Monitor, test and assess key controls, identifying weaknesses and driving continuous improvement.
Review, challenge and analyse risk assessments, including ratings, scoring, trends and supporting rationale.
Identify control weaknesses, conduct root cause analysis and support the development of effective remediation plans.
Track and support issue remediation, audit findings and regulatory actions to ensure sustainable outcomes and compliance with risk standards.
Analyse emerging risks, themes and trends, translating findings into practical recommendations.
Provide risk assessments, control guidance and constructive challenge for business change initiatives and projects.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across GFCC, Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit and wider business teams.
Maintain proactive communication with senior management on risk activities, progress and key issues.
Support the Head of AFC/Global MLRO, GFCC Business Manager and wider GFCC team in delivering high-quality risk oversight.
Promote a strong risk and control culture, stay informed on regulatory and industry developments, and support continuous improvement across financial crime risk management.The skills you'll need:
Experience in risk management within regulated financial services environments.
Knowledge of financial crime risk, including AML, sanctions, fraud, ABC and KYC/CDD and related controls.
Experience in risk monitoring, control testing, assurance and governance activities.
Understanding of operational risk frameworks, risk assessments and control management.
Ability to identify control weaknesses, perform root cause analysis and support remediation.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and provide clear risk insights.
Experience preparing risk reports and governance materials for senior management.
Ability to maintain accurate risk, control and issue documentation.
Strong stakeholder management, communication and constructive challenge skills.
Well organised, detail-oriented and able to manage activities through to completion.
Experience supporting change initiatives, assurance reviews and process improvements.
Positive, resilient and continuous improvement mindset with sound judgement and integrity.
Skilled in risk reporting, governance support and promoting a strong risk and control culture.
