Assistant Gardener

Are you passionate about gardening and enjoy working outdoors? We are looking for an enthusiastic and practical individual to join a small, friendly team on a beautiful private estate in Newton Ferrers.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll be involved in maintaining the gardens and grounds, supporting seasonal projects and helping to care for a small collection of animals. Whether you already have gardening experience or are looking to build your skills within a private estate environment, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day garden maintenance including planting, propagating, weeding, pruning and watering.
Maintaining gardens and grounds using equipment such as strimmers, hedge cutters and ride-on mowers.
Assisting with seasonal planting and the ongoing development of the estate's gardens and outdoor spaces.
Daily care and welfare of alpacas, chickens and other livestock.
Supporting general estate maintenance tasks including fencing, repairs and seasonal projects.
Ensuring all work is carried out safely and to a high standard.
About You
Previous experience in gardening, grounds maintenance or estate work would be advantageous.
Confident using outdoor power tools and gardening equipment.
Happy working outdoors in all seasons.
Flexible and willing to turn your hand to a range of tasks as estate priorities change throughout the year.
Able to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
Chainsaw certification and horticultural qualifications would be beneficial, but are not essential.
Full UK driving licence required due to the rural location.

Monday to Friday
1 in 3 Saturdays required (with a day off in lieu)
