About the Role
We are looking for an experienced HVLV Cable Jointer to join our team working across private electrical networks, including sites within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Her Majesty's Prison (HMP) estates. This role covers projects across England, and candidates should be prepared to travel to various sites nationwide, with occasional overnight stays away from home. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled jointer to work on a variety of projects, delivering high-quality cable jointing and electrical works up to 11kV within secure, sensitive environments.
Please note: Due to the nature of the sites involved, this role requires SC (Security Check) Clearance, or the willingness and eligibility to undergo SC Clearance vetting.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out jointing and termination of HV (11kV) and LV cables on private network installations, including MOD and HMP sites
Undertake fault finding, cable repairs, and reinstatement work
Install and maintain underground and overhead cable systems
Carry out general electrical works associated with private network projects, including installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
Work safely and in accordance with relevant health & safety regulations, including safe systems of work and permits to work
Adhere to site-specific security protocols and clearance requirements when working within MOD and HMP environments
Travel to sites across England as required, with occasional overnight stays away from home
Complete accurate documentation, test certificates, and job reports
Liaise professionally with site teams, clients, security personnel, and other contractors
Ensure all work is completed to industry standards and company quality requirements
Requirements
Proven experience as a Cable Jointer working with HV (up to 11kV) and LV cables
Relevant jointing qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Power Engineering, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Experience or qualifications in general electrical installation and maintenance work
Valid Authorised Person / Competent Person status (or working towards)
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, SC Clearance
Full UK driving licence
Strong understanding of safe working practices, including safety rules for private networks
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, particularly within secure and controlled environments
Willingness to travel throughout England and stay away from home when required by the project
Desirable
Prior experience working on MOD, HMP, or other government/secure sites
Existing SC Clearance
CSCS/ECS card
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
First Aid at Work certification
SMSTS/SSSTS (advantageous but not essential)
