Administrator – Spider is advertising on behalf of a well-established, long-established and employee-owned independent academic publishing company who are looking for an organised and proactive Administrator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis at their offices in Martlesham, Suffolk.

About the role:
As an Administrator, you will provide essential administrative support across marketing, partnerships and business services, helping to ensure campaigns, events, office coordination and day-to-day processes run smoothly. This is a varied role where you will manage multiple priorities, support external events and conferences, respond to author and customer queries, assist with partnership activity and take ownership of core office administration, be one of the onsite first aiders and the main fire marshal (formal training will be provided). Working hours for this role will be 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in the office in Martlesham.
Key responsibilities:
Support conference and external event activity, coordinating campaign materials, logistics, checklists, event stock, returns and sales within agreed deadlines
Provide author and customer support, responding to or allocating inbox enquiries, maintaining accurate mailing lists and processing review copy requests
Assist with partnership activities, including preparing communications, campaigns and information packs, as well as carrying out desk research to support partnership outreach
Manage general office administration, including post, office supplies, facilities coordination and monitoring general enquiries
Maintain accurate Health & Safety and compliance records, ensuring administrative processes are completed to the required standard
Work collaboratively across the business, adapting to changing priorities and providing administrative support to help deliver agreed objectives and deadlines
About You:
As an Administrator, you will have previous experience in an office or administrative role, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload independently. Prior first aid or fire marshal experience would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. You will be reliable, proactive and solutions-focused, with excellent attention to detail and a high level of administrative accuracy. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be confident working with colleagues and external stakeholders. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, alongside the ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute positively as part of a wider team. Previous experience within publishing is not essential, and candidates with transferable administrative experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
