Learning Support Assistant - Winchester
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to support pupils in schools across the Winchester area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys helping young people build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.
Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will provide additional support to pupils who may require extra guidance with their learning, organisation, confidence, or classroom engagement. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or through small‑group interventions, depending on the needs of the school and individual pupils.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in education while making a meaningful difference to pupils' learning and development.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and assist with small‑group learning activities
Support pupils during lessons, classroom activities, and school routines
Help pupils remain focused, engaged, and confident in their learning
Assist teachers with classroom preparation and learning resources
Encourage positive behaviour and effective learning habits
Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people
Patient, supportive, and approachable manner
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Adaptable and responsive to different pupil needs
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in childcare, youth work, coaching, or education welcomed
Graduates looking to gain school experience encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Winchester
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Key Stages: Primary / Secondary
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience working with children desirable
SEN experience beneficial but not essential
Safeguarding training can be provided
