PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our client based in Cambourne. The role is an initial 24-month contract, working on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite.
Key Responsibilities
•
Own the full board-level hardware development lifecycle, from requirements and specifications through to production release.
•
Design and develop digital, analogue and mixed-signal electronics for low-power, battery-operated IoT devices.
•
Select components and develop schematics, working closely with PCB layout engineers.
•
Lead prototype bring-up, hardware debugging and firmware/hardware integration.
•
Plan and execute design verification and validation activities.
•
Develop robust designs meeting reliability, manufacturability, EMI/EMC and regulatory requirements.
•
Produce technical specifications, engineering calculations, test plans, reports and production-release documentation.
•
Support engineering changes, root-cause investigations, failure analysis and ongoing product improvements.
•
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including firmware, software, mechanical, systems and product engineering.
Requirements
•
BSc or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline.
•
6–8 years of hands-on board-level electronics development experience.
•
Proven experience taking at least one hardware product from specification through to production release.
•
Strong experience in schematic design, component selection, PCB layout guidance, prototype bring-up and hardware debugging.
•
Solid understanding of digital, analogue and mixed-signal electronics and low-power design.
•
Experience with embedded microcontrollers and interfaces such as I²C, SPI and UART.
•
Experience with design verification, validation and structured failure/root-cause analysis.
•
Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
•
Experience with battery-powered or low-power embedded systems is highly desirable.
•
Experience with wireless technologies such as LoRa, GNSS, Bluetooth or similar would be advantageous.
•
Knowledge of EMI/EMC, RF integration, regulatory compliance and design-for-manufacture would be beneficial.
•
Proficiency with Altium Designer or an equivalent professional PCB design platform.
