HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) - SEN Experience Required
South London Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity £110 - £140 per day (dependent on experience)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist school in South London. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with teachers and the SEN team, you will lead small group interventions, deliver pre-planned lessons, and provide targeted support for students with a range of special educational needs.
The setting supports pupils with needs including:

Autism (ASC)

SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)

ADHD

Speech and Language Difficulties

Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

Additional complex needs
Key Responsibilities
-
Deliver lessons and learning activities in the absence of the teacher.

Lead intervention groups and targeted academic support sessions.

Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.

Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management.

Work closely with teaching staff to monitor progress and implement support strategies.

Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Contribute to EHCP targets and pupil development plans.
The Ideal Candidate

HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role.

Previous experience working within an SEN school, alternative provision, or specialist setting.

Strong understanding of Autism, SEMH, and additional learning needs.

Confident leading small groups and delivering learning activities independently.

Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
