Graduate Buyer
37.5 hour working week. Option to work from home 2 days a week. 3 days from office.
Please note: this role does not meet the salary threshold required for visa sponsorship, and we are unable to accept applications from candidates on a graduate visa, as we would not be able to sponsor beyond this. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future. The role is open to both graduates and non-graduates, as outlined below.
About the Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturer of engineered equipment, supplying a broad range of industrial sectors across the UK and internationally. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, the business continues to grow and is now looking to strengthen its procurement function with the appointment of a Graduate Buyer, based at their site in Leamington Spa.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate, or someone with equivalent experience gained in a busy, fast paced environment, to build a career in buying and procurement. You don't need previous purchasing experience, we're just as interested in candidates who've worked in retail, hospitality, warehousing, logistics, or any other high pressure setting where they've learned to think on their feet and keep going when things get busy. You will be trained up to take ownership of the ongoing procurement of proprietary (C Class) materials, components, and equipment, working closely with the wider team to ensure timely, scheduled deliveries of goods that align with customer demand, and that stock levels are maintained to meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the production requirements of the company.
- Ensure raw materials, components, and production supplies are ordered accurately and delivered on time to support assembly, distribution, and installation schedules.
- Set up and maintain material, supplier, and planning system data in the MRP/ERP system.
- Gather the resources needed to address action items and follow up on all material shortage-related issues.
- Communicate and escalate issues as needed to stakeholders, working closely with operations, quality, warehousing, and transportation to resolve material issues and respond to consumption patterns.
- Generate data using SAP and Excel, creating pivot charts to support the department's key performance indicators.
- Liaise with design and engineering teams regarding drawing packs, product descriptions, and codes to ensure accurate procurement specifications.
- Provide administrative support, including raising and amending purchase orders and clearing invoice queries, while supporting other team members as required.
Skills and Experience
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience gained through work in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Resilient, able to work under pressure, and not afraid to get stuck in.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate using an analytical approach.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with external partners.
- Good attention to detail and a practical, solution-focused mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel, including regular use of VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and basic formulas, as well as Word and PowerPoint), or a willingness to quickly get up to speed.
- Positive, mature, and professional attitude; self-motivated, adaptable, and diligent.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems or SAP is a bonus but not essential, full training will be provided.
