Skilled Operative – General Groundworks & Civils
Location: Stoke-on-Trent (T5 6EG)
Rate: £210 p/d UMB
The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Skilled Operative to join a busy civils project at the Barhale site in Stoke-on-Trent.
The successful candidate will have solid experience in general groundworks and civil engineering, with some experience of pipe laying and pipe fitting. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is comfortable carrying out a variety of groundwork duties and supporting the wider site team.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out a range of general groundworks duties across the site.

Assist with excavation, trenching and preparing work areas.

Carry out backfilling, compaction and ground reinstatement.

Prepare and level ground for construction and civils works.

Assist with concrete works, kerbing, drainage and other associated civils activities.

Use hand tools and small plant safely and effectively.

Assist with the installation and fitting of underground pipework where required.

Carry out basic pipe laying and pipe fitting duties as part of wider civils works.

Work safely around existing underground services and utilities.

Assist skilled trades and other site operatives as required.

Keep work areas clean, tidy and free from hazards.

Follow site instructions, RAMS and health and safety procedures.

Work as part of a team to ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience in general groundworks and civils.

Experience with excavation, trenching, backfilling and reinstatement.

Knowledge of general construction and civil engineering site practices.
-
Some experience with pipe laying and pipe fitting.
-
CPCS or CSCS certification.
-
Confined Space ticket/training would be advantageous.

Clean Water Card would be desirable.

A good understanding of health and safety on construction sites.
